SipWell has been carbon neutral since June 2020. After a huge effort on our part, we received the CO2 Neutral ® label in June 2020 from the independent climate consultancy CO2logic and the Vinçotte certification body. Your water of choice is environmentally friendly.
CO2-Neutral
Did you know? SipWell is the first carbon neutral watercooler distributor in Belgium.
That means we deliver your SipWell water to you while simultaneously reducing our impact on the environment.
Our approach involves a three-step process that has been certified by the CO2logic label:
- 1/ Calculating our emissions
- 2/ Reducing our emissions
- 3/ Compensating for our impact
SipWell bottles and watercoolers
Did you know? Our 18.9 L water bottle equals 1,134 fewer one-litre bottles.
How do we do it?
We collect your empty SipWell bottles, clean them using a biodegradable detergent, and then reuse the bottles up to 60 times before recycling them into new bottles. We also donate the caps to the Belgian Centre for Guide Dogs, which in turn recycles them and uses the collected funds to help train guide dogs.
Our watercoolers are also 100% recyclable. Anything we can recover from a non-functional watercooler is reused in our refurbished watercoolers. The end result is zero waste and a minimum impact on the environment. Nothing goes to waste at SipWell.
Transport
Did you know? SipWell was the first company in Belgium to have an electric delivery van?
How do we do it?
We bring your water to your watercooler using an environmentally friendly approach. Our new fleet of delivery vans means fewer emissions – a 15% reduction to date. We also optimise our delivery routes in order to keep emissions to a minimum.
Accessories
Did you know? Our accessories are environmentally friendly.
How do we do it?
Our range of accessories consists of sustainable water bottles, such as Sip & GO, Sip & GO+ and Smartcup, with the latter bottle even reminding you to drink enough water during the day.
Aside from our sustainable water bottles, we also offer biodegradable carton cups. But the highlight of our accessories is our SipWell set of glasses – our glasses and carafe will see you drinking water in style.
Climate projects
Did you know? We compensate for the few emissions we still generate after our carbon neutral commitment through climate projects.
How do we do it? Since 2019 we have created the following climate projects in Africa: Reforestation in Zambia, Efficient cookers in Ghana and Rehabilitating wells in Eritrea.
Poor agricultural practices, poverty and the loss of precious forests and ecosystems are all threatening Zambia. In order to make ends meet, local farmers often have to resort to poaching. Our project in Zambia promotes fair trade for local sustainable farmers with the aim of reducing deforestation levels. Our work in Zambia helps make a positive impact on our planet.
EFFICIENT COOKERS IN GHANA
The ability to cook, which is a fundamental right, negatively affects the health of the people of Ghana, as well as household budgets and the environment. The non-renewable charcoal that is used in the polluting and inefficient cookers plays a role in poverty, deforestation and CO2 emissions. Our project in Ghana encourages the use of efficient and healthy cookers that are manufactured locally in order to cut emissions and create employment. Our work in Ghana helps make a positive impact on our planet.
REHABILITATING WELLS IN ERITREA
Over 45% of Eritreans do not have access to clean, potable water and are forced to use unreliable water sources and lakes that are more often than not contaminated. The only way to make the water a little more potable is by heating it on woodfires. This results in deforestation and the release of damaging gases. Our project in Eritrea involves repairing damaged wells and drilling new ones so that locals have access to clean water. Our work in Eritrea helps make a positive impact on our planet.
Thanks to the above steps CO2logic and Vinçotte have certified SipWell as carbon neutral.
We continue to improve our company in an environmentally friendly manner and reduce our emissions every year.
